GGCF is a registered CBO in the Wakiso district of Uganda. We are currently supporting many orphans who are living with extended families. We therefore need to support the whole family. The team of seven unpaid volunteers includes five qualified social workers and therefore are able to provide Sex education, AIDS/HIV awareness training and Abuse counselling, which currently is non existent in the villages. The team visited kyeyo village during 2013 and with the assistance of the village chairman identified initially 8 families (with orphans) in need of help. Assessment forms were completed and the team documented the needs of each family.
A date was arranged with the village chairman to visit on the 19th January this year 2014 and meet with the 8 families. The team brought supplies, clothing, scholastic materials and the story of the Birth of Jesus which the children loved.
The visit was very successful and the team also met other families who needed help due to absent husbands and fathers, children abandoned by mothers, unwanted pregnancies and a complete lack of sex education. The next visit will also focus on these issues.
GGCF Team attends prayer service at Mt Sion Prayer Centre Bukalango in Wakiso District ON 02/Feb/2014 to thank God for making it possible to receive a Registration Certificate as a CBO.
